Paul Molitor front runner for vacant Twins managerial job

Hall of Famer Paul Molitor is considered the front runner for the vancant managerial job of the Minnesota Twins.

Molitor was part of a coaching staff that served under Ron Gardenhire during the 2014 season. With Gardenhire being let go at the end of the season Molitor was also.

The Twins are just starting their managerial search with Doug Mientkiewicz also being on the early list of candidates.

Whoever takes over for the Twins will be hard pressed to duplicate the success of Gardenhire and his predecessor Tom Kelly. Under Gardenhire the Twins were 1068-1039 winning six AL Central division titles. However the team had struggled in recent seasons posting 90 losses or more in each.

The Twins current roster is a mixture of players who should be in the minor leagues and some who are little more than role players. The Twins front office has struggled to pick the right free agent acquisitions and their farm system has done little to replenish the roster.
