The Toronto Blue Jays have benched outfielder Colby Rasmus.

While Rasmus was benched back in July for being tardy, this one is purely performance based. The Blue Jays have soured on Rasmus who is hitting just .225/.287/.438 on the season and headed towards free agency.

“I’ll be playing whenever they think I should play and I’m just going to be sitting around watching these rookies play,” Rasmus said in an interview on Wednesday via the National Post.

Anthony Gose and Kevin Pillar will get some playing time in center field as the season comes to an end.

A former first-round pick in 2005, Ramus had his best statistical season in 2013 when he hit ,276/./338/.501 with 22 home runs and 66 RBI.
