The return of St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina could come this weekend reports the St. Louis Dispatch.
Molina will catch at Double-A Springfield on Wednesday with the help of a support on his surgically-repaired right thumb. He is expected to play five to six innings.
“I’m in really good shape,” Molina told The Springfield News-Leader. “I’m happy with the way everything is going. I can’t wait for (Wednesday).”
Another possibility is the Cardinals waiting until Monday when rosters expand. It will ultimately depend on how Molina feels following tonight’s game.
Prior to going down Molina was hitting .287/.341/.409 with seven home runs and 30 RBI in 83 games.
