San Diego Padres closer Joaquin Benoit may end up on the 15-day disabled list due to his bothersome right shoulder.
Benoit has not pitched since last Wednesday due to what has been termed “crankiness” in his right shoulder. In 48 games this season Benoit had a 1.64 ERA and a 0.85 WHIP.
#Padres haven't ruled out a DL stint for Benoit (he of the cranky right shoulder). Could push decision a few more days. For now, #Quack.

Even with their recent surge the Padres are 10.5 games out in the NL West and 7.5 out in the Wild Card.
Kevin Quackenbush earned a save on Wednesday night against the Los Angeles Dodgers and could fill in for the time being. Quackenbush has a 2.29 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, and 37/13 K/BB ratio in 39 1/3 innings this year.
