Gordon Beckham had put together another disappointing season for the Chicago White Sox this year. On Thursday the team sent him to the Los Angles Angels for a player to be named later or cash.
The White Sox will take whatever they can get for Beckham who has failed to live up to expectations following a strong rookie campaign in 2009.
This season Beckham was hitting a mere .221/.263/.336 with seven home runs and 36 RBI and was not assured of returning to the White Sox next season.
Beckham will play behind Howie Kendrick and David Freese on the Angels who simply want to see if there is anything in his bat.
The White Sox are expected to promote Marcus Semien for an extended look at second base.
