An MRI taken on Tuesday revealed no structural damage in the right shoulder of Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander.

Verlander, 31, left his start on Monday against Pittsburgh after allowing five runs – four earned – in just one inning of work. The loss against the Pirates dropped him to 10-11 with a 4.76 ERA and a 1.42 WHIP on the season.

Still the MRI was good news for the Tigers and Verlander as it appears the former Cy Young Award winner will avoid the disabled list. The Tigers rotation was already having to deal with the loss of Anibal Sanchez.
