The season of San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Matt Cain is officially over.
Cain will undergo season-ending elbow surgery next Monday. The procedure is to remove bone chips from his right pitching elbow.
The news of Cain’s season coming to an end is not a huge surprise. Given the recovery time needed for the surgery the 29-year-old should have no trouble being ready for spring training.
Cain was having a difficult season going 2-7 with a 4.18 ERA and a 1.25 WHIP in 15 starts this season.
