“The wrappers are off” said Baltimore Orioles manager Buck Showalter about pitcher Kevin Gausman.

The Orioles will not have a innings limit on the 23-year-old right hander in the second half, something the pitcher is ready for.

“I definitely feel a lot more confident, more confident in myself, more confident in just everything,” Gausman said via the Baltimore Sun. “I feel great about where I’m at physically, and mentally I feel great, too. There’s a lot of things I’ve been through that some guys might take personally, but that’s been something for me, I haven’t thought about it that way at all.

Gausman will start the Orioles third game of the second half on the road in Oakland.

“I definitely feel a lot more confident, more confident in myself, more confident in just everything,” Gausman said. “I feel great about where I’m at physically, and mentally I feel great, too. There’s a lot of things I’ve been through that some guys might take personally, but that’s been something for me, I haven’t thought about it that way at all.

Gauman made seven starts in the second half going 4-2 with a 3.29 ERA and a 1.25 WHIP.
