The New York Yankees have released Alfonso Soriano.
Soriano had been designated for assignment a week ago and to the surprise of no one cleared waiver. The 38-year-old is at the end of the line as he hit just .221/.244/.367 with six homers over 67 games for the Yankees before the team finally cut ties with him.
In other Yankee news the team sent relievers Jim Miller and Bryan Mitchell to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
