The Kansas City Royal are looking to add a few pieces as the trade deadline approaches. One player the Royals are showing interst in is Boston outfielder Jonny Gomez reports ESPN’s Jerry Crasnick.
Gomes, 33, is hitting just .234 with five home runs and 30 RBI this season in 67 games.
Known for his ability to hit against left handers, the Royals could add Gomes as a valuable platoon piece. He owns a .266/.351/.461 line against left-handed pitchers in his career.
At 48-46 the Royals are 6.5 games behind Detroit in the AL Central but see themselves as a contender for one of the AL’s Wild Card spots. Boston is nine games under .500 on the season.
