In order to make room for Jeff Samardzija on the active roster the Oakland A’s have sent Tommy Milone to Triple-A.
Milone has been a pleasant surprise for the A’s this season. During 16 starts he has a 6-3 record with a 3.55 ERA.
While Milone has been sent down it hardly means he is permanently out of the rotation. In fact the A’s will still have to make another move just to place Jason Hammel on the active roster.
Two options the A’s will have for release going forward are Brad Mills and former closer Jim Johnson. Mills, acquired for $1 from Milwaukee, is on the roster still as a stater but it could be only a matter of time before he or Johnson are let go.
