Jason Lane wills stay in the San Diego Padres organization accepting an assignment to Triple-A El Paso.
Lane, 37, will stick around as bullpen depth for the Padres. He was designated for assignment a few days ago to make room for Andrew Cashner on the Padres active roster.
In two appearances spanning 4 1/3 innings Lane struck out four batters while allowing just one hit. The former outfielder who converted to pitcher will look for a return to the majors later this season.
