The saga of free agent Kendrys Morales is nearing its conclusion.
Morales, 30, is expected to sign within the next day or two. Once MLB’s draft gets underway Morales will no longer be tied to draft pick compensation.
While Jon Heyman reports that agent Scott Boras has denied a request of the New York Yankees to wait a few days, while they check on the status of Carlos Beltran, it is hard to rule them out just yet. For what it is worth the Milwaukee Brewers and Seattle Mariners are considered the favorites at this point.
Last season Morales hit .277/.336/.449 with 23 home runs and 80 RBI in 156 games last season.
