Braves: Jonny Venters threw on Tuesday

Relief pitcher Jonny Venters did some light throwing on Tuesday.

It was the first activity for the Atlanta Braves reliever after he was shut down more than a week ago for pain caused by scar tissue in his surgically-repaired left elbow.

The Braves have not placed any timetable on a return to the field for Venter. That he was able to throw on Tuesday is a good sign but he is still a ways away from contributing. Anything the Braves get out of Venters this season has to be considered a bonus.

Venters missed the entire 2013 season. In 230 career games he owns a 2.23 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP.
