Soreness in hi right wrist forced New York Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira from Saturday’s game.

Teixeira was set to be pinch hit for by Brian Roberts in the bottom of the fifth but he took the field in the top of the sixth only to be pinch hit for in the bottom of the inning.

The news about Teixeira’s wrist is not a surprise as he has been dealing with soreness in it for some time now. He missed three games this week and was 0-for-2 with a strikeout prior to leaving the game.

Teixeira missed almost the entire 2013 season after originally injuring his wrist in spring training.

This season the 34-year-old has put up a .242/.370/.477 line with nine home runs and 25 RBI.
