The Boston Red Sox are not interested in trading for outfielder Andre Ethier.

Reports hit the internet over the weekend that the Red Sox were interested in the Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder but those tidbits are not true according to Rob Bradford of WEEI.

The Red Sox surely will explore the trade market for outfielders but at this time Ethier may not be an option. The biggest obstacle to acquiring Ethier is the $53.5 million and three years left on his contract after this season.

The 32-year-old Ethier is hitting .270/.331/.372 with two home runs and 21 RBI in 44 games this season for the Dodgers. He is a candidate for a trade as the deadline approaches though the Dodgers may end up having to eat money to make it happen.

With the Red Sox are looking for outfield help they will soon welcome back Stephen Drew to their infield. Drew played with Low-A Greenville on Monday and was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk. He struck out twice but thus far there have been no problems as he works his way back to the majors.

The Red Sox will now move him up to Triple-A. He will become an option in the Red Sox lineup in just a few days.
