Chicago Cubs pitcher Jeff Samardzija earned his first win of the season on Monday.
It was not the best outing of the season for Samardzija who allowed four runs – three earned – over seven innings. He did rack up a season high 10 strike outs.
Monday’s outing marked just the second time this season that Samardzija allowed three runs in a start.
With the win Samardzija is now 1-4 with a 1.68 ERA and a 1.07 WHIP. He will face the Brewers in Milwaukee next.
