On Thursday night Chicago White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu left early with a injury to his left ankle. Abreu could be seen limping around for much of the White Sox 12-5 loss to the Chicago Cubs before being removed for a pinch hitter in the ninth inning.
“He just seemed like he was limping a little bit tonight, that’s why in the end there I took him out,” Ventura said via CSN Chicago. “He says he’s fine. He’s limping around a little bit, but he’ll be fine.”
“He had this before. He says it’s not like it was in spring training so I don’t expect him to be out.”
Ventura will consider using Abreu as a designated hitter for the next few days which could provide playing time for Paul Konerko or Adam Dunn at first base.
