Joe Smith is starting to take control of the closer spot in the Los Angeles Angels bullpen.

Smith picked up his second save in as many days on Tuesday as he pitched a perfect ninth inning to preserve a 6-4 win overt he Cleveland Indians.

It was just a few days ago that Angels manager Mike Scioscia pulled the plug on Ernesto Frieri. Smith now has as many saves in the last two days as he had over his previous 438 appearances. Smith should have some leash on the closers job given a 2.98 career ERA and a 1.25 WHIP.
