Braves to activate Gavin Floyd this weekend

The Atlanta Braves plan to activate Gavin Floyd from the disabled list this weekend as the right handed pitchers 30 day stint of rehab comes to an end.

Floyd has been pitching at Triple-A Gwinnett and according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution will be activated on Sunday.

Of course where Floyd ends up in Atlanta remains to be seen. The Braves rotation is among the best in baseball from top to bottom, even with Brandon Beachy and Kris Medlen undergoing Tommy John surgery prior to the seasons start.

Julio Teheran, Ervin Santana and Aaron Harang have all pitched well this season. When asked about Alex Wood, Fredi Gonzalez indicated that he would make Sunday’s scheduled start. The Braves have Mike Minor returning who sent David Hale to the bullpen even though he had pitched as well as the other four members of the rotation.

Few could have envisioned the Braves having a surplus at pitching when the season started but that is exactly what they have right now.
