The Atlanta Braves believe that pitcher Mike Minor will be able to rejoin the rotation for Saturday’s game against the Cincinnati Reds.

Minor would be making his first start of the season. In his last rehab outing he allowed three runs – two earned – on four hits and no walks while striking out four on Saturday at Triple-A Gwinnett.

The Braves believer that Minor will be able to throw 100 pitches by the time Saturday rolls around. He threw 80 in his start on Saturday.

A season ago Minor made a big step forward making 32 starts and posting a 3.21 ERA, 3.37 FIP and a 1.09 WHIP across 204 2/3 innings of work.

Alex Cobb sets return goal

Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Alex Cobb is starting to feel better and believes that he will be able to return to the majors in late May or early June.

Cobb has been dealing with an oblique injury and was initially expected to miss 4-6 weeks. The Rays are being cautious with Cobb especially in light of an injury to Matt Moore. No timetable has been set for when Cobb will throw.

Teixeira activated, Gonzalez dumped by Tigers

The New York Yankees have activated Mark Teixeira from the disabled list. Teixeira missed the minimum amount of time while dealing with a hamstring injury. He will return to a .250/.308/.250 batting l;ne.

One player not returning is Alex Gonzalez who has been released by the Detroit Tigers. Gonzalez was acquired for infielder Steve Lombardozzi in late-spring after Jose Iglesias went down. He lasted just a few weeks on the Tigers roster hitting just .167 while showing decreased range. The Tigers will now turn to Andrew Romine and Danny Worth.
