Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Chad Billingsley is dealing with tendinitis in his right elbow.
Billingsley had a bullpen session cut short on Tuesday after he felt discomfort in the elbow. An MRI has revealed that there is nothing structurally wrong with Billingsley shoulder.
The Dodgers had been hoping to have Billingsley back by mid-May but his timetable may be pushed back. He appeared in just three games last season.
Mets sticking with Jose Valverde
While Jose Valverde allowed two home runs in a non-save situation on Wednesday that will not prompt manager Terry Collins to remove him as the New York Mets closer.
Over Valverde’s last two outings he has allowed a total of five runs.
The Mets have been using Valverde as their closer after Bobby Parnell went down. They may have to look for external options if things do not turn around.
