Phillies activate Mike Adams from DL

The Philadelphia Phillies have activated relief pitcher Mike Adams from the disabled list.

In order to make room for Adams the Phillies sent Luis Garcia to Triple-A.

Adams did not start the season with the Phillies after he had offeason shoulder and hernia surgeries. He made four rehab appearances prior to being activated.

The Phillies will slide him in a relief role ahead of Jonathan Papelbon. Adams could be used in a few save situations when Papelbon is unavailable, such as Monday night when Jake Diekman was unable to save a game against Atlanta.

In 28 games last season Adams had a 3.96 ERA and a 1.36 WHIP for the Phillies.
