Jason Giambi of the Cleveland Indians is set to begin a minor league rehab assignment on Friday.
Giambi, 43, will be assigned to Double-A Akron where he expects to spend several games before rejoining the Indians next week.

Giambi broke a rib while being struck by a pitch in early Marach.
As a part-time player last season for the Indians, Giambi appeared in 71 games last season hitting .183/.282/.303 hitting nine home runs and driving in 31 runs.
