Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw was scratched from Sunday’s scheduled start against the San Diego Paders. Now the two-time NL Cy Young Award winner has been placed on the disabled list with upper back inflammation.

By placing Kershaw on the DL, the Dodgers can call up another pitcher for their roster to begin the season. His stint on the disabled list will be back dated and the left hander believes he could return in time for Friday’s game against the San Francisco Giants.
Kershaw was 16-9 last season with a 1.83 ERA and a 0.92 WHIP in winning his second straight Cy Young.
