Tigers acquire infielder Alex Gonzalez from Orioles

The Detroit Tigers have acquired 37-year-old infielder Alex Gonzalez from the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for Steve Lombardozzi.

Gonzalez will join the Tigers who are trying to find options at shortstop following the leg fractures suffered by Jose Iglesias.

Last season Gonzalez hit just .177/.203/.230 in 41 games for the Milwaukee Brewers and was forced to accept a minor league deal from the Orioles this offseason.

The addition of Gonzalez comes just three days after the Tigers acquired Andrew Romine from the Los Angeles Angels.
