The Seattle Mariners have granted pitcher Scott Baker his release.

Baker, 32, asked for his release from the Mariners after the team decided he was not going to make their Opening Day rotation. Signed to a minor league deal, Baker posted a 6.75 ERA and had a 1/7 K/BB ratio this spring. He also hit three batters.

Currently Baker is throwing around 90 mph. With a slue of teams in need of pitching there should be no shortage of opportunities for Baker to continue his career.

Last season Baker made three starts for the Chicago Cubs compiling a 3.60 ERA and a 0.87 WHIP.
