The New York Mets have released relief pitcher Kyle Farnsowrth.
Invited to camp as a non-roster invite, the Mets were hoping that the 37-year-old Farnsowrth would offer them an option in their pen.
They did not see what they had hoped as the right hander was sitting at 87-89 mph.
Farnsworth spent last season with the Tampa Bay Rays and Pittsburgh Pirates posting a 4.70 ERA and a 1.38 WHIP across 38 1/3 innings of work.
There figures to be a few teams willing to take a look at Farnsworth but it looks like Farnsworth’s chances of making an Opening Day roster are gone.
