An MRI on Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Patrick Corbin revealed damage to the ulnar collateral ligament in his left pitching elbow.

Corbin, 24, had been slated to pitch for the Diamondbacks when their season gets underway in Australia.

It is a tough blow for the Diamondbacks and Corbin who posted a 3.41 ERA and a 1.17 WHIP across 208 1/3 innings last season.

Corbin will receive a second opinion on his elbow this week but all signs are currently pointing to him having Tommy John surgery. Wade Miley will now get to start for the Diamondbacks when they open the season against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
