The Seattle Mariners signed second baseman Robinson Cano this winter leaving the future of Nick Franklin in question.

While Franklin has been competing for the shortstop job this spring the Mariners also have Brad Miller who appears to be the favorite for the spot.

That leaves a slue of teams engaging with the Mariners about the availability of Franklin.

According to CBS Sports’ Jon Heyman’s latest report, the Baltimore Orioles and Tampa Bay Rays are trying to acquire Franklin to be their second baseman while the New York Mets view him as a potential option at short stop.

Franklin, 23, appeared in 102 games last season finishing with a .225/.303/.382 line with 12 home runs and 45 RBI.
