St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Jaime Garcia is heading back to St. Louis after experiencing discomfort in his left shoulder.

Garcia is working his way back from surgery to repair a torn labrum in 2013.

“His shoulder is just not feeling quite right,” said Cardinals GM John Mozeliak, via USA Today. “He hasn’t felt right quite the last 48 hours. From a medical standpoint, no one thought it was that serious, but it’s not improving. There’s no reason to work through something if it might be something larger.

Adam Wainwright, Michael Wacha, Lance Lynn and Shelby Miller will fill four of the Cardinals rotation spots.  Joe Kelly or Carlos Martinez will fill the fifth.

Garcia, 27, has appeared in 99 big league games since his debut in 2008. He won 13 games in 2010 and 2011 but has been beset by injuries in the last two seasons.
