Red Sox ready to move on from Stephen Drew

MLB: Boston Red Sox at Detroit Tigers

The Boston Red Sox are ready to move on from Stephen Drew. While the 30-year-old shortstop remains on the open market, the Red Sox do not appear willing to improve their one year offer.

“I think the one thing that we don’t want is a lingering what-if if Stephen is still out there,” said manager John Farrell said, via the Boston Herald. “I think in all fairness to our guys, our clubhouse, guys that would be affected if he were to be brought in.”

The longer Drew remains on the market the less likely he is to get the three year contract he reportedly desires. Rookie Xander Bogaerts is giving the Red Sox the ability to move on from Drew who hit .253/.333/.443 with 13 homeruns and 67 RBI across 124 games last season.
