Houston Astros reliever Jesse Crain is uncertain about when he will make his season debut. He said on Saturday that it was doubtful that he would be ready for Opening Day.
“That would be a huge bonus if I was ready (for the start of the season),” Crain said via the Houston Chronicle. “I’m not planning on that. I would be surprised if I was ready by then.”
Crain underwent right biceps surgery in October and will begin throwing this week.
The Astros signed Crain to a $3.25 million free-agent deal in the offseason.
If/when healthy Crain stands as good a chance as anyone does in the Astros pen for collecting saves.
