The Cleveland Indians will honor former player Jim Thome by erecting a bronze statue outside of Progressive Field this summer.

On August 2 prior to a game against the Texas Rangers, a life-sized statue of Thome will make its public appearance.

Currently there have been no leaks of what the statue may look like but it was announced previously that the statue would feature Thome’s unmistakable batting stance.

Thome was a member of the Indians from 1991-2002 before he signed a six-year deal with the Philadelphia Phillies. He later played with the Chicago White Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers, Minnesota Twins before finishing out his career with stints with the Indians, Phillies and Baltimore Orioles.
