The New York Mets have re-signed pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka to a minor league deal.
Matsuzaka, 33, has also been invited to spring training.
Signed by the Mets in late August, Matsuzaka responded with a respectable 4.42 ERA across 38 2/3 innings of work.
Matsuzaka will compete for a spot in the Mets rotation with the likes of John Lannan and Jenrry Mejia. There’s a good chance Matsuzaka starts the season at Triple-A.
Matsuzaka's #Mets contract is for $1.5M if he makes majors.
