The Milwaukee Brewers have signed first baseman Lyle Overbay to a minor league contract.

Overbay previously spent the 2004 and 2005 seasons with the Brewers being a productive bat with a .289/.376/.464 line and 35 home runs and 159 RBI.

Those days are long gone for Overbay but he could still learn some playing time at first base this season. He has been invited to spring training.

Overbay will turn 37 in a few days. He finished 2013 with a .240/.295/.393 line with 14 home runs and 59 RBI in 142 games for the New York Yankees.
