The New York Mets have signed pitcher John Lannan to a minor league contract.
Lannan, 29, will receive an invitation to spring training where he will compete for a spot at the back end of the Mets rotation.
A veteran of the NL East, having played for Washington and Philadelphia, Lannan should get a share of starts for the Mets. He started 14 games for the Phillies last season, going 3-6 with a 5.33 ERA and 1.52 WHIP.
