The Chicago Cubs and pitcher Jeff Samardzija are still far apart from a new long-term deal reports CSN Chicago.
Samardzija is two years away from free agency so there is time for the Cubs but some believe if a new deal is not worked out soon that the pitcher may opt to close the Cubs out of future talks.
Teams who have inquired about Samardzija from the Cubs have been told that the asking price is sky high.
Samardzija, abotu to be 29, was pitched 213 2/3 innings in 2013 with a 4.34 ERA and a 1.35 WHIP.
