The Kansas City Royals have signed catcher Ramon Hernandez to a minor league deal.
Hernandez, 37, spent parts of the 2013 season with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays. Hernandez appeared in 17 games at the big league level hitting just .208/.291/.438 with three home runs and six RBI.
The 15-year veteran will compete for the backup catcher job in Kansas City.
