The Cleveland Indians announced the signing of outfielder Jeff Francoeur on Monday. Francoeur’s deal with the Indians includes an invitation to spring training.
Francoeur, 29, hit just .204/.238/.298 with three home runs and 17 RBI last season while splitting time between Kansas City and San Francisco.
No longer an everyday player the Indians are likely to give Francoeur a chance at a platoon role where he could face left handed pitchers. In his career he holds a .285/.335/.465 line against south-paws.
