Sooner or later the Masahiro Tanaka saga will be over.
The Rakuten Golden Eagles will either post the pitcher or keep him. Posting Tanaka stands to earn the Golden Eagles $20 million but its far less than the team had hoped as new posting rules limit Major League clubs from bidding more than $20 Million for any player posted by a Japanese club. Other Japanese clubs have earned north of $50 million via the posting system.
In the latest twist two Japanese sources are reporting conflicing information.
Sports Jiji in Japan report that Rakuten will not post Tanaka while earlier in the day another Japanese source in Sponichi reported that the pitcher would be posted.
If Tanaka is posted there figures to be more than a dozen teams who bid the necessary $20 million. This story is long from being over.
