The Texas Rangers have signed outfielder Shin-Soo Choo to a seven-year deal.
Choo, 31, had reportedly turned down an offer of $140 million on a seven-year deal from the New York Yankees. He was said be seeking “Jacoby Ellsbuy money” referring to the outfielder who landed a seven-year deal worth $148 million from the Yankees.
The Yankees turned their focus and signed Carlos Beltran to a three-year deal.
Choo will fall short of Ellsbury money as his new deal is for seven-years and $130 million reports Jon Heyman of CBS Sports. Though it’s worth noting he will save a substantial amount in taxes in Texas.
