The Cleveland Indians have signed pitcher Shaun Marcum to a minor league contract.

Marcum, 32, was limited to just 78 1/3 innings in 2013 before he had to undergo thoracic outlet syndrome surgery. He is expected to be ready for Spring Training.

The Indians are hoping to have the same success with Marcum that they had last season with Scott Kazmir. Marcum’s deal is the second significant announcement in as many days from the Indians who previously announced a deal with closer John Axford.
