The St. Louis Cardinals are moving Matt Carpetner to third base and turning over the second base job to Kolten Wong for 2014. But that has not stopped the team from looking to add a valuable role player.
Mark Ellis and the Cardinals are nearing a one-year deal which would bring Ellis to the Cardinals as a bench bat.

Last season with the Los Angeles Dodgers the 36-year-old Ellis hit .270/.323/.351 with six home runs and 48 RBI.
