The Atlanta Braves have signed infielder Mat Gamel to a minor league contract.
Gamel, 28, is expected to be healthy for the start of spring training after suffering multiple ACL tears.
The Braves cannot offer Gamel a starting job but he should have no problem finding at-bats off the bench. In 106 career games spread over five season Gamel owns a .229/.305/.367 career line with six home runs and 29 RBI.
