The Los Angeles Angels have signed right handed pitcher Chris Volstad to a minor league contract.
Volstad will receive an invite to spring training and look to find a way to earn a spot at the back end of the Angels rotation this spring. If he fails to make the Angels he will likely be ticketed for a spot at Triple-A.
In 2013 Volstad allowed 10 runs over 8 1/3 innings while compiling a 4.58 ERA in 127 2/3 innings at Triple-A.
For his career, the former 16th overall pick is 35-51 with a 4.94 ERA in parts of six major league seasons with the Marlins (2008-2011), Cubs (2012) and Rockies (2013).
