The Baltimore Orioles acquired Mike Morse on Friday afternoon and on Saturday they made room for him on the active roster.

Morse, 31, was acquired in a trade with the Seattle Mariners for minor league outfielder Xavier Avery.

In order to make room for Morse on the roster the Orioles placed utility player Steve Pearce on the disabled list. Pearce, 30, has been dealing with wrist inflammation while spending time in the outfield and DH for the Orioles.

Pearce figures to return to the Orioles as soon as he comes off the disabled list.

The Orioles hope the addition of Morse can add some punch to the DH spot in their lineup. Morse was hitting .226/.283/.410 with 13 home runs and 27 RBI in 76 games with the Mariners.

Morse hit 49 home runs over the last two seasons with the Washington Nationals before being traded to Seattle last winter.
