Daisuke Matsuzaka will get to face the Detroit Tigers afterall this season. It just will not come as a member of the Cleveland Indians.
Signed to a minor league deal with the Indians in the off-season the 32-year-old Matsuzaka never made it to the major leagues. Released two days ago, Matsuzaka was picked up by the New York Mets.
Matsuzaka will start for the Mets on Friday after making 19 starts for the Indians Triple-A affiliate. He will wear No. 16 when he takes the mound for the Mets.
In 117 career major league games, all of which came with the Boston Red Sox, Matsuzaka holds a 4.52 ERA and a 1.42 WHIP.
