Tim Hudson will not pitch again during the 2013 season but the right-hander believes he will be ready to go for the start of 2014.

Hudson, 38, expects to be healthy by late November or December.

Out for the season after undergoing ankle surgery in late July, Hudson will almost certainly have to settle for a one-year deal with incentives.

The injury occurred when New York Mets outfielder Eric Young stepped on Hudson’s foot on a play at first base. Since losing Hudson the Atlanta Braves have relied on Alex Wood and a returning Brandon Beachy to fill out their rotation.

Prior to the ankle injury Hudson had made 21 starts with a 3.97 ERA and a 1.19 WHIP. Hudson has been a member of the Braves for the last nine seasons after spending his first six seasons with the Oakland Athletics.
