UPDATE: Dodgers expecting Ramirez to play Wednesday
Hanley Ramirez has not been cleared by the Dodgers medical staff to play in a full game. While Ramirez was available to pinch-hit on Monday they appear to be waiting until Friday to play a full game.
Ramirez injured his throwing shoulder chasing a popup into the stands in an Aug. 4 game against the Chicago Cubs. The Dodgers want to make sure Ramirez is fully healthy before they place him on the field.
“He’s got to be at a point where he’s not going to hurt himself,” manager Don Mattingly said on Monday, via Dodgers.com. “We can’t have him play one game if it’s going to cost us a week. We’ve got to be smart.”
The Dodgers start a series in Philadelphia on Friday after an off day on Thursday.
Ramirez is hitting .359 with 11 homers and 37 RBIs in 55 games this season.
